Tally Ho Corner

Background

The redevelopment of this Council-owned site to provide a community arts centre, funded by an enabling development, was a key priority for the London Borough of Barnet. The Council wished to enter into partnership with a private sector developer through the OJEC (now OJEU) procurement process.

Development role

Through a joint venture, we were responsible for securing our appointment through the procurement process and securing political and local support for an ambitious redevelopment of the site.

Outcome

Following the appointment of the joint venture as the Council’s development partner, we helped to secure a negotiated planning consent despite strong objection from the Conservative opposition party. Following change in political control, we engaged with new Conservative leadership to ensure the project did not stall.

An ambitious scheme was delivered which met with widespread satisfaction and approval from the Council and local community upon completion.
